As Muslims across Nigeria celebrate Eid al-Maulud, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has called on political leaders to prioritize the welfare of citizens during this period of reflection. Archbishop Daniel Okoh, CAN’s President, highlighted that the festival provides a moment to embrace values such as humility, compassion, justice, and devotion to God, which the Prophet Muhammad exemplified.
In a statement issued Friday, Archbishop Okoh reminded Nigerians that these principles are universal and should guide society toward peace, fairness, and mutual respect. He emphasized that political leaders have a responsibility to ease citizens’ hardships and adopt policies that promote unity and dignity for all.
“This season urges all leaders to commit to justice, reduce the burdens of economic difficulty, and strengthen social cohesion. Governance should reflect integrity, fairness, and compassion if Nigeria is to achieve stability and prosperity,” Okoh said.
The CAN President also sent heartfelt Eid greetings to the Muslim community, praying that the celebrations foster interfaith unity and inspire collective efforts for a just and peaceful nation.
