ADC leadership under David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola 2027 elections Nigeria

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has updated the records of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and formally recognized a new leadership team headed by former Senate President, David Bonaventure Mark. This decision, made public on Wednesday in Abuja through the commission’s official website, brings an end to the prolonged internal dispute that had divided the party’s national leadership.

Under the new arrangement, Senator Mark will serve as the National Chairman of the party. Former governor of Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola, has been listed as the National Secretary. Other members of the National Working Committee include Dr. Mani Ibrahim Ahmad as National Treasurer, Akibu Dalhatu as National Financial Secretary, and former governor of Edo State, Professor Oserheimen Aigberaodion Osunbor, who will take on the role of National Legal Adviser.

The confirmation of the new executives is seen as a major step towards stabilizing the ADC. Political observers believe the fresh leadership could help restore unity within the party and reposition it as a stronger contender in the 2027 general elections. Stakeholders also expressed optimism that the team led by Senator Mark will provide the structure and direction needed for effective opposition politics.

Analysts note that with the resolution of the leadership tussle, the ADC now has an opportunity to rebuild its image, attract more supporters, and play a significant role in shaping the national conversation ahead of future elections.
